New Roof

Fascinating, when we have a new roof, we want it to look brand spanking new. When these locals have a new roof, they want it repaired so it won't leak, but still look like the old roof. It was a long and tedious process and sometimes I wasn't sure about some of the OH&S aspects, however, by the time we left, it was nearly finished.
Bottom layer of wooden battens

Next layer of yellow slabs

Next, looked like a waterproofing layer

Then the layer of new base tiles

All topped with the old or aged top tiles

Sadly we had to leave before we could see the finished product, but it was near enough.

  1. I think all roofers have the gift of patience since roofing is a tough job. Seeing them almost finishing your roof at once is a living proof. Anyway, even though you didn't see the result that day, at least you were able to see the process of making it, which I think is what matter most; just an assurance that your roofers did their best to make your roof strong and beautiful. > > Joann Winton @ AJCRoofing.com

  2. I guess the other locals want to maintain the aged look of their houses, while at the same time, modernizing the insulation and protecting it from leaks that some old roofs are prone to. While it can be tedious, it all boils down to preference, I guess.

  3. While I do like the vintage feel of an old roof, I do not mind replacing them if it cannot be remedied by any means. On the other side of things, maybe they aren’t allowed to change to look of their roof? But the biggest advantage, of course, is modernizing insulation at the house, while going for the classic look. That surely would look nice in their sale. XD
