Out to Lunch

It's not very often in our repertoire, but we went out for lunch.

We went to Ristorante Cavallino because of a particular dish John needed to revisit. Pizzocheri which is buckwheat pasta with black and green cabbage, cooked potato chunks, all mixed together, while hot, with Valsassina cheese and olive oil. This is a traditional dish from Sondrio, just north of the lake.

The lady who runs the place was somewhat surprised at his choice and hung around after it was served to check that it was ok. A happy smiling Animal proved all was good, so then she had to know how he, being a tourist and all, knew about such a local dish. John was happy to tell her that he knew she came from Sondrio, and that she was very proud of this menu item.... now a look of terror on her face.....he is a fortune teller. He elaborated with the fact that he had been here two years ago and had met her then, and had had the same dish. It was so good, he had to come back all the way from Australia to eat it again. She was well pleased.

We even had a glass of wine, unusual for us during the day, but we do make up for it later. This obviously wasn't enough, as our friendly lady brought us a Limoncello each.
