Shelter from the Rain

Now I know how those pilgrims felt.
We ran (well, sort of walked quickly) from the Basilica St Sernin to the Couvent des Jacobins for a quick look see. The Lonely Planet describes the church of this museum as an extraordinary example of Gothic architecture, which is flooded by day in multi-coloured natural light from the huge stained-glass windows.
Well, this day it was flooded by pouring rain and we took refuge for a goodly long time. It was breathtaking but it was also cold and wet.
Construction began in 1215 and it took 170 years to complete. Interred beneath the altar are the remains of St Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274) early head of the Dominican order.
There are a lot of old bones buried in Toulouse.

This was the view from inside out to the cloisters........
